Our January restaurant review is up at ecurrent.com. This month, we take you to The Red Pepper Deli in Northville, where (nearly) everything is served up raw. Check out the photos below then head over to ecurrent.com to read the review.
Nori Roll (note the distinct lack of rice)
Beet Ravioli in Red Pepper Sauce (the beet slices were marinated in oil for an extended period to make them pliable, then sandwiched around a cashew-based "cheese" filling). Rather good, actually!
Lentil Soup, one of the very few cooked items on the menu. Stands up to pretty much any lentil soup we've had.
Marinated Portobello Sandwich, on raw bread.
More photos in the extended post...
Nutty Cake Sandwich; sweeter than it looks.
Pesto Pizza, or the raw version thereof.
Guacamole's meant to be raw anyway, and theirs is very good. Corn and flax crackers on the side, made in a three-day process involving a desiccator.
Mango pie in the front; apple pie at rear.
A young coconut, filled with fresh coconut water (as they are) and with a spoon for scraping the insides.
It won't surprise you to know that this is called the Mean and Green. It's not really mean. Um, it sure is green though...
Looks yummy, but what is "raw bread"?

I found your food blog going through a few links. Glad I ran into it. Didn’t know that the food blog/recipe community was so big online. I love your posts!
I was wondering if you would like to exchange links. I’ll drop yours on my site and you drop mine on yours. Email at [email protected] or stop by my site and drop a comment. Let me know if you would like to do a link exchange.
Cheers,
Caleb

I like the look of that green drink...well maybe not the look of it, but I am trying to eat more greens so it appeals to me. I've taken note of the ingredients from the ecurrent site. Would be fairly easy to make at home.
I am currently drinking a powered green drink which has made a huge difference to my energy levels but would be good to try a 'real' mix of greens.

I've never thought of making nori rolls without rice. Those actually look quite nice.
