Pierogi Appetizer at Amadeus: you can't tell from the outside, but it's an assortment of pork, mushroom, cheese, and sauerkraut (obviously garnished with sour cream)
I hope all our eCurrent readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving. After a break in November, we're back with a review of Amadeus Restaurant in December's eCurrent magazine and our accompanying photo essay here. Enjoy the photos!
The interior of Amadeus, looking toward the front door.
Bartek's Breakfast: herbed (and very tasty) scrambled eggs, accompanied by a massive slice of smoked salmon over two potato pancakes.
Polish Breakfast, known to Polish speakers as Jajecznica: a mound of those same scrambled eggs, covered with slices of Amadeus's custom-made kielbasa and accompanied by two potato pancakes.
More Photos behind the cut...
Golabek Breakfast: a cabbage roll, with eggs and potato pancakes. Cabbage rolls for breakfast? Oh, yes!
Hungarian Breakfast: beef stew with potato pancakes and the usual sides, plus cabbage salad. Very tasty — and it also comes in an even heartier dinner version.
Potato Cutlet appetizer
Smoked Salmon with Potato Pancakes: four potato pancakes, with smoked salmon, egg, and caviar. Ambrosial!
Chicken Paprikash: rich in sour cream (and real paprika), this dish is milder than you might expect.
Bitki with Kopytka: Joe's perennial favorite. You can see the resemblance to hooves (see our Current article for the reference).
Amadeus's desserts are legendary. Here, the Napoleon: made fresh with puff pastry and custard.
The Constanza: dark chocolate and white chocolate mousse atop a thin circle of sponge cake lightly soaked in an orange liqueur.
Lovely photos! Amadeus is one of my faves.

I'd love to eat another of the Bartek's Breakfasts right now! Beautiful creamy smoked salmon, set off perfectly by the accompaniments...uummm....

Those last few dishes look scrumptious. Totally amazing! Thanks for sharing.

Polish people don't eat potato pancakes for breakfast, because they take too long to make in the morning!

Pierogi and Golabki are both dinner courses, and salmon isn't very popular in Poland. Some of the information about the POlish food is not true.

We reviewed dishes Amadeus has on its menu. If they call a dish "Polish Breakfast", then we're going to use the same name in the review. If they serve golabki for breakfast, then we are going to report it. It's a review of a specific restaurant's food, not a definitive essay on Polish food.
