Nature gifted us with a white New Years to make up for the mostly green Christmas we had. My fire bushes are now snow bushes!
Joe and I wish you a joyous New Year filled with good food, friends, and family. We'll be back with a review of what we loved about 2007, what we hope for 2008!
I started off 2008 food season with an epsidoe of a public television show of Jacque Pépin making puff pastry from scratch. He makes it look so simple! I know I'll have to try it myself.
I watched that same show today and I took pictures of the beautiful snow before it is gone.

Just catching up on your blog. I make corn meal mush the same way my grandmother did....with good old Quaker Corn Meal...the kind in the round box. 4 cups of water and a cup of corn meal. After it thickens, I turn the heat to the lowest temperature and let it cook for about 20 more minutes...it is a little more mellow. Fries up nicely. My grandmother, of course, fried it in bacon grease.
