I had put the answer in the comments, but to allow new readers the chance to guess I've move it to a new post. Take a peak at the Extended Post to see the answer.
It sure does look like an artichoke heart and I can also see it as uncooked phyllo dough, but Biscuit Girl has it with bean curd skin.
This particular bean curd skin is rolled up with a layer of thinly sliced black mushrooms in the center (not pictured) and sold in local Asian grocery stores as "vegetarian duck" or "vegetarian chicken." I heat it in the microwave and - voila - instant dinner. (Add some rice and a side of vegetables for a balanced meal.)
"Name That Food" is a good exercise. Where is the next one?

Believe me, I've been thinking on it. I don't have an item in mind yet, but I'll try to post one before the end of the month. Do you have one you want to do?
