What Kitchen Chick forgot to note is that this is because the guy who runs Amadeus is actually Polish, as opposed to all the bakeries around here that make slightly bigger jelly donuts and call them "paczki".

Of course, he's probably also bemused that Americans are so fascinated with these things.

Paczki Day has only become a big deal in SE Michigan over the last 10-15 years or so.

Mmmmm... this brings back memories of growing up in Detroit, going to parochial school with a Polish pastor. Paczki Day was big, and they were the real thing. Mmmmm...

Don't even get me started about memories of Ann Arbor food...
